Spruha Shirish Joshi (born 13 October 1989) is an Indian television, theatre and film actress. She is known for her role in
the critically acclaimed Marathi film Morya.
Early life and education
Spruha was born on 13 October 1989 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is from Balmohan Vidyamandir School. She graduated from Mumbai University majoring in B.A..
Career
Spruha Joshi started out by working in plays from her school and college days. As a child artist, while still studying in 7th standard, she appeared on the TV show De Dhamaal that aired on Alpha Marathi (now called Zee Marathi). Her television career as child artist followed several shows such as Ek Ha Asa Dhaga Sukhacha, Abhāḷamāyā, Bombay Lawyers and Satyamev Jayte.
She performed in the play Ga Ma Bha Na when she was in Ruia College and made her film
debut in 2004 through Maaybaap which was directed by Gajendra Ahire. She was later seen in the TV show Agnihotra playing a major role of Advocate Uma Band. In 2011, she was cast
opposite Santosh Juvekar in the film Morya which was directed and produced by Avadhoot Gupte.
She was also seen playing lead roles in the plays Lahan Pan Dega Devaa and Never Mind.[1]

In 2012, her role of Kuhu, the lead
character's (played by Swapnil Joshi) cute and day-dreaming cousin in Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta was well received.[1] Since late 2012, she is seen playing the role of elder Ramabai Ranade in the TV show Unch Maaza Zoka.

Actress Spruha Joshi chats with
TOI about taking up roles in Marathi tele-serials and why she chooses films of
interesting subjects only After playing meaty roles in Marathi serials actress Spruha Joshi is back to acting in TV serials. The actress was first seen on television playing the role of
tough lawyer Uma Band in daily soap Agnihotrasome four years back. She
later went on a break, and only recently was seen in the Marathi TV serialEka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta.
When we asked her what kept her away from the limelight, the young actor shared,
"I was in second year when I did television for the first time hence I had
not really planned my career then," adding, "It's not like I wasn't
doing anything. During my break from TV, I did a lot of anchoring and a few
films like Avdhoot Gupte's Morya being one of them," she
expressed. She will now be seen in Sur Rahu De, a Marathi film
directed by Ramesh More. Though the actor loves the craft, she will do a film
only if it's interesting. "I am in no hurry to do films. I have always
done selective work. Be it television or theatre or films, I take up the
project only if it interests me. As for films, I am waiting for some meaty
interesting projects to come my way."
Excited
about her role in the television serial Uncha Maza Zoka, Spruha bagged the
role of older Ramabai Ranade. She says, "It is a challenge for me.
Especially because child actor Tejashree Walawalkar did a great job portraying
Rama in the serial.
Apart from her work, she is also
busy connecting with her fans on social networking sites. "It feels great
to read responses from fans online. I really hope I keep getting the love and
support from the audience," she expresses.

Spruha Joshi is a popular name in Marathi entertainment. At present, she is in full
form with two of her plays 'Never Mind' and 'Lahanpan Dega Deva' inviting all
the attention from Marathi stage lovers. Through her role in ongoing TV serial
'Eka Lagnachi Doosari Goshta', she has made her presence felt. On big screen,
we saw her dashing role in Avadhoot Gupte's film 'Morya'opposite Santosh

Q: How and when your acting career took off ?
A: It all began during my childhood. While I was studying in Balmohan Vidyamandir, Vidya Patwardhan was my arts teacher. Q: Tell us something about your roles in 'Lahanpan Dega Devaa' and
'Never Mind'.
A: My character in 'Lahanpan Dega Devaa' is of a moody mischievous college girl Sharayu from a upper middle class family of 60s era. This character is very cute and typical of her age, who shares close friendly relationship with her sister-in-law. In 'Never Mind', I play an equally important and challenging character of Smita, a young girl, who has just entered Media and Advertising field. She unknowingly falls in love with her Boss, while sharing advices on different issues. It’s all fun, to see it happen.

Q: Your character of Kuhoo in 'Eka Lagnachi Doosri Goshta' is also
inviting attention. Tell us something about this role.
A: There is no doubt about the popularity of this serial. But, the character of Kuhoo is also has its own importance. It’s a nice role of a young girl, who is mischievous, friendly and emotionally attached to all family members. She is a poet and communicates very philosophically with others. People are discussing about her habits. That’s the strength of this role.

Q: What are your other interests, besides acting?
A: I spend time in writing. I just love to compose poems. In 2008 my first set of poems got published. Now, I am working on one more.
